Abstract: I will review the main results from the early Planck work on galaxy clusters and the Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect. Planck has recently released the first all-sky SZ cluster survey ever published, along with a a set of papers comparing SZ properties with X-ray and optical properties of the cluster population. Planck's all-sky coverage and multifrequency observations provide superb data for large samples of clusters, a unique contribution to cluster studies. We find good agreement between the X-ray and SZ properties of clusters, while an intriguing issue appears when comparing the SZ signal to optical richness. The results provide new insight into the cluster population and its use as a cosmological probe.
