Abstract: The accelerated expansion of the Universe has nowadays gathered lot of observational evidence. Whether the origin of this acceleration is due to a cosmological constant or some form of dark energy is still matter of debate. Galaxy clusters are ideal tools to study the background cosmology since they are a fair sample of the overall matter distribution of the Universe. I will use galaxy clusters extracted from five cosmological hydrodynamical simulations with different dark energy models to study the influence of dark energy on structure formation. I will show that the evolving cosmological background leads to different star formation rates and different formation histories of galaxy clusters, but the baryon physics in collapsed objects is not affected in a relevant way.
