Title: Classical novae open questions
Date: Wednesday, June 18th, 2014
Time: 11:30
Venue: Villa Bazzoni

Abstract Classical nova (CN) outbursts are quite well understood phenomena; while CN progenitors are well identified astrophysical objects. Nevertheless, their study is far from being complete since a number of issues still remains unsolved. For example, masses of the accreting primary, ejecta geometry and substructures, and role of the donor star during and after outburst are still poorly constrained. I will introduce these problematics, their importance, existing observational and technical limitations, as well as the most recent results and approaches toward their solution.
