Abstract: The role played by the environment in galaxy evolution is not fully understood. High density galaxy environments are places where a number of different physical processes can produce important transformations in galaxies in short timescales. Thus, mergers, close and fast fly-by encounters can transform galaxies from late- to early-types or from bright to dwarf ones. Galaxies in massive galaxy cluster also interact with the hot cluster medium. This interaction can play an important role in the gas evolution of the galaxies. This physical process can swept the gas from galaxies in few Myr, stopping the star formation and making redder the galaxies. During the last years we have investigated the influence of the environment in the structural parameters of the galaxies. We have focused our attention in the structural parameters of discs and bars. These studies have been done using large samples of nearby galaxies from SDSS or from large cluster surveys. In this seminar I will show the results of this investigation.
