Title: The chemical composition and the evolution of the Galaxy: halo, thick disk, thin disk, and bulge

***********************************************************
Abstract: Studies of stellar populations in our Galaxy show that its history is quite complex and not yet fully understood. Various distinct populations have been identified, the main ones being the halo, the thin disk, the bulge and the thick disk. They formed through different mechanisms in different epochs. In the recent years, dynamical and chemical studies of increasingly larger samples and with better and better accuracies for individual objects have allowed a number of insights. A few interesting features will be described and commented.
