Abstract: About 1800 X-ray sources are detected with XMM-Newton
in the 2 deg^2 of the COSMOS field.
A bulk of the X-ray sources are AGN, of which
the typical redshift is z~1.5. The relatively large area coverage
permits us to access to a sizable number of powerful QSOs, including
those with z~3, as well as obscured AGN at moderate redshift. Mean
X-ray spectra were derived for different classes of AGN by stacking
redshift-corrected individual spectra. These mean spectra are used to
extend the study of spectral properties of AGN, e.g., Fe K line, which
has been limited to neaby, bright objects, to AGN at higher redshift.
Implications for relativistic broadening of the Fe line in Type I AGN,
its luminosity dependence, the population of heavily obscured AGN,
etc. will be discussed. Also, a brief progress report on the XMM
ultra-deep survey of the Chandra Deep Field South will be presented.
