The magnetic field of the Galaxy

Abstract:
In recent years, the strength and topology of the magnetic field of
the Galaxy have been studied by various means and on different length
scales. Before describing some of the results that were obtained in
those studies(part of which are based on work with the Westerbork
Array) a summary will be given of the models that have been proposed
for the generation of the magnetic field, as well as of the methods
by which the various components of the magnetic field can be
determined.
