Title:
Simulation and analysis of cosmic microwave background data
***********************************************************
Abstract:
Our current picture of the physics of the cosmic microwave background
(CMB) anisotropies is understood at better than the 1% accuracy level,
representing an extraordinary achievement in theoretical astrophysics.
In close association, observing times have been halving every two years
ever since the discovery of the CMB in 1965 thanks to heroic advances in
detector technology, now approaching fundamental limits in sensitivity
for a single detector. These two facts drive the need for advanced data
analysis tools capable of handling and compressing large volumes of
data. We give an overview the problem and describe activities related to
Planck data processing.
