Abstract Recent CMB observations constrained primordial non-Gaussianity to a very low level, basically consistent with Gaussian initial conditions. Nevertheless it is important to understand the impact that primordial non-Gaussianity has on structure formation, in particular on gas physics. I will therefore review the effect of primordial non-Gaussianity in high-resolution hydrodynamical chemistry simulations and its consequences on the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect. I will show that for realistic or moderate values of primordial non-Gaussianity, effects on the late time cosmic evolution are negligible for the (SZ) effect.
