Abstract:
MAGIC, the world's largest single-dish imaging
atmospheric Cherenkov telescope, is in its second year of operation. I
will highlight several issues of TeV astrophysics, both Galactic and
extragalactic, that MAGIC has been addressing: e.g., the acceleration
of galactic cosmic rays, the emission from microquasars and
millisecond pulsars, the physics of relativistic jets, the measurement
of the extragalactic background light, the nature of dark matter,
tests of quantum gravity. The growing ability of addressing these
issues, made possible by the rapidly evolving Cherenkov technique,
signals the coming of age of TeV astrophysics.
